Kababbq skewers tasty Persian flavors

San Rafael was once Marin’s epicenter of Persian dining.

As recently as two years ago there were three reliable, atmospheric Persian restaurants in the town; then two of them closed, which disappointed me greatly. You can never have too many places to get a juicy spear of koobideh 
(ground mixed beef, lamb or chicken mixed with lots of minced onions, so flavorful it makes plain American meat patties taste like dish towels.)
Happily, Kababbq opened in February [2009] on East Francisco Boulevard in San Rafael.....(continued)

Dining review: Kababbq mixes Persian barbecue with California-style fusion

Persian tea at Kababbq is a fragrant affair. A heady blend of Earl Grey, Darjeeling and jasmine leaves touched with cardamom, the tea ($1.50) expressed first the dark, full flavor of black tea yet eased to a softer, rounder character on the back of the palate. Tradition says to sip, the tea through a lump of sugar pressed to the back of your two front teeth.....(continued)
